On Their Way Out

“So Moses returned to the Lord and said “Lord why have You brought trouble
on this people? Why is it you have sent me? For since I came to Pharoah to
speak In YOUR name he has done evil to this people and neither have You
delivered Your people at all.”
ex. 5:22-23

Perspective.

It is easy for us to say after reading the whole story about Moses and the
complainers of Israel that they just were not looking to God or that they
needed more faith.  It is easy to say that we would trust God if we were in
that situation where the ruler was making it harder on us to serve our God
and His plan…

The people didn’t see their deliverance, but God spoke it to Moses.

Ex 6:9 ” So Moses spoke to the children of Israel; but they did not heed
Moses because of anguish of spirit and the cruel bondage.”

Bondage can keep us from seeing the freedom that God has.  We have
to help others experience freedom.  So why didn’t the people of Israel get
it?

Could it be that they were blinded by their captivity? Was it that for 400
years all they knew was the wrong way and that anything beyond that was going
to stretch the “grid” for them?  Did they resist change because the warmth
of the hand of bondage was better than the fear of the cold night without
it?

Lets look at the leader. How hard for him, the ONE man who was hearing God
has to prove a God who gets shown up three times by people who can do magic
tricks. Talk about killing your confidence.

How would a Pastor explain that one today?  Would his congregation throw him
out?  Would they complain and find a new church?  Do you think that they
might even accuse him of doing the same witchcraft even if he is doing the
work of the Lord?

I raise these questions because the next few years will be very taxing for
the church and its leaders.  It is going to be more than just a preaching
about the Word, it is going to be much more of a show and tell service with
the power and Presence of God and the pastors following the Lead of the
Holy Spirit.  The days for the planned ahead “cookie-cutter” sermons that
last 24.7 minutes are well on their way out.

If their intentions are just to have a big church and write books, then that
kind of service can continue. But the real work, bringing life and truth and
righteousness, that will come by the guys who are not afraid.  Let me
re-phrase that, it will come by the guys whose fear does not hold them back.

So What does this have to do with anything?  Well, it is time for us as
Christians to take back the nation.  It is time to re-establish the fear of the Lord.
It starts with us, it starts with our families and us making disciples.  Not
CONVERTS, but disciples who will follow us as we follow Christ.

It doesn’t matter about Obama, Biden, Congress, Senate, MTV, Hollywood, Talk
Radio, Iraq, or anything else. If we make a stand, and we teach others to
wisely take a stand for Jesus Christ then we will change a Nation.

Bill Johnson asked, “Can a nation be changed in a day?” The answer is yes it can. In a
day where true disciples make disciples, a nation can change; it can
change in a moment.
